JANUARY 2014

The year is steadily winding away - from mapping your life, to mental versus physical prowess, to taking an in-depth look at Democracy, the 7th Grade has been hard at work reading and writing and examining all facets of literature through multiple entry points in class and beyond!

UNIT THREE: SEVENTH GRADE

YOUR VOTES, YOUR RIGHTS!

ESSENTIAL QUESTION:

How do people express themselves in meaningful ways?

This unit examines the way in which people express their views in a variety of constructive ways.  Students will read an excerpt from Reginald Rose's classic play, "Twelve Angry Men," Langston Hughe's "Democracy," and Sarah Holbrook's poem of the same name, finishing the unit ultimately with thoughts from Sojourner Truth.  The culminating writing project will deal with the different perspectives authors may have on similar topics.
